Standing on the gallery atop the Assateague Lighthouse, that silent sentinel that has kept mariners safe since 1867, you can see the plain below where Assateague Village once stood. You can also see across the Assateague Channel, where ponies go for a swim each year. And there, across the channel, is the island of Chincoteague, that little piece of Paradise off the coast of Virginia. The Museum of Chincoteague Island is dedicated to preserving the story of the people, culture and heritage of Chincoteague Island.
As a non-profit institution, the Museum of Chincoteague Island relies on the help of people like you, who care about the island’s history and want to see the story continue for generations to come. Please consider ways you can support The Museum of Chincoteague Island.
Join the Museum or give the gift of membership to a friend or family member. Memberships start at $35 – Friend (2 people) or $45 Family (all members of your immediate family and grandchildren). Other benefits of your annual membership include: 10% discount in the gift shop, invitation for new exhibits opening nights, monthly newsletter, email notification of special events and a Museum supporter window decal.
Corporate Member – $250 annually includes 6 VIP passes for you and your employees to visit the Museum throughout the year. VIP’s receive a 10% discount in Museum gift shop, invitations to our VIP Business After Hours Events planned just for our corporate sponsors/staff, and a Museum supporter window decal. Corporate sponsors also qualify to host your own private event, once per year, at the Museum, including the pavilion, discounted at 50% of the current rental rate. Your support will be acknowledged in our quarterly newsletter.
Sustaining Member – $100 minimum annually includes all Friends/Family membership benefits plus a museum tote bag.
Benefactor – $1000 Includes lifetime membership along with the benefits noted above. In addition to the benefits of Friends/Family membership, Benefactors also enjoy a 50% discount of 1 Legacy Pavilion rental annually and their names will appear prominently displayed on the benefactor wall.
Join our Legacy League – Regardless of the size of your estate, a legacy gift will secure the Museum of Chincoteague Island for future generations by insuring your forever support. Give a gift beyond your lifetime by giving an inheritance to the Museum, naming the Museum in your final wishes as an organization you proudly support. Consider bequeathing a dollar amount, annuities or other investments.
