VISITING CHINCOTEAGUE ISLAND
The Island of Chincoteague is a 200-year old history-rich village lying four miles off the Virginia Coast. Easily accessible by car via a causeway it is one of the many barrier islands off the Atlantic coast. Chincoteague Island is connected to and protected by Assateague Island, home of pristine undeveloped beaches, the famous wild pony herd, and the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. Named by AOL as “America’s Number One Beach Town”, Chincoteague is a favorite family vacation spot with excellent motels, campgrounds and rental vacation homes. Visitors can enjoy the relaxing Chincoteague beach, fine dining, eco-tours, kayaking and charter boat fishing.
